- 14.07.2010 - eBay Served $3.8 Billion Patent Suit
On Tuesday XPRT Ventures served eBay with a $3.8 billion lawsuit against technology that was built into PayPal’s patent and had previously been shared with PayPal confidentially by representatives from XPRT. This technology is currently contained in a total of six XPRT patents.
XPRT Ventures say that eBay incorporated details into a patent in April 2003 named “Method and System to Automate Payment for a Commerce Transaction.”
Together with eBay other companies including PayPal and other eBay subsidiaries BillMeLater, Shopping.com, and StubHub, were also named as defendants in the lawsuit.
An eBay represntitive told Cnet “We believe it is without merit, and intend to defend ourselves vigorously.”
